Freebrough student wins big

Jak swims for Guisborough amateur swimming club 6 times a week where he also coaches the squad 3 times a week. Jak has come on leaps and bounds since joining GASC. The club holds an annual gala and this year it fell at the same time as Jak’s Step 2 exams, however, this didn’t dampen Jak’s spirits at the club or at school. He has attended every extra study session at school and every swimming/coaching session. The last 2 weeks have been heats and 200m and 100m finals for Jak.

This determination and dedication has reflected in Jak’s swimming. On Saturday, at the annual gala finals, he came joint first in the 15 year old freestyle category and won the boys 15 year old butterfly category. He also won the men’s open butterfly and the men’s open backstroke.

All of these swims gain points in order to win the overall swimmer of the age group. We attended the presentation evening after the gala where Jak was presented with winner of the boys 15 year age group and winner of the men’s open! He was also given the position of club captain for the second year running and presented with an outstanding achievement award.

Well done Jak!
